SVG Marine is an independent yacht surveyor practice working across the UK, South Wales, Southampton, the Mediterranean and Europe — MCA Certifying Authority Examiner, full member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying (MIIMS), combining a certificate in naval architecture with offshore experience most surveyors never accumulate.
SVG Marine was established to provide yacht owners, buyers and commercial operators with independent technical advice they can rely on. Whether undertaking a pre-purchase yacht survey, an insurance and valuation survey, a new-build yacht inspection or an MCA coding examination, our focus is on delivering clear findings, practical recommendations and an objective assessment of the vessel.
The practice is led by John Sharratt, whose experience spans marine surveying, new-build monitoring, Caribbean fleet management and more than 50,000 offshore miles. Supported by further study in naval architecture, and as an MCA Certifying Authority Examiner and RYA Yachtmaster Examiner, John brings both technical knowledge and practical experience to every project.
We believe a survey should do more than identify defects. It should help owners make informed decisions, avoid costly surprises and move forward with confidence. Every project is approached with a clear scope, transparent pricing, detailed written reporting and ongoing support where required.
