A Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) ensures that a new build yacht has been constructed to the expected standard and fully complies with the agreed build specifications. This final stage of quality control provides owners with peace of mind before taking delivery of their vessel.
Experience & Expertise
We conduct PDI inspections on both sailing and motor yachts, having worked with renowned shipyards across Europe and beyond, including:
- Sanlorenzo,
- Galeon,
- Baglietto,
- Riva,
- Privilege,
- Fountaine Pajot,
- Moon,
- Sunreef,
- and more!
What the PDI Covers
- Comprehensive Systems Testing: Verifying that all onboard mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems are fully operational.
- Specification Compliance: Ensuring the yacht aligns with the agreed build specification and meets contractual requirements.
- Cosmetic & Interior Checks: Inspecting all interior and exterior finishes for any defects or imperfections.
- Sea Trials: Assessing the yacht’s performance, handling, propulsion, and systems operation under real conditions.
The PDI Process
The inspection is typically carried out in three stages:
- First Inspection & Initial Report
- A thorough assessment of the yacht, including a review of any necessary rectifications.
- A works list is issued to the shipyard, outlining areas that require attention.
- If feasible, the sea trial is conducted at this stage.
2. Second Inspection
- Once the shipyard has addressed the identified issues, we return to verify that all corrective work has been completed to a satisfactory standard.
3.Final Sign-Off Inspection
- A final inspection takes place just before handover and final payment, ensuring the vessel is delivered in pristine condition.
More visits will be conducted as required by the progress of the vessel and the owner requirements.
By conducting a thorough PDI, we aim to minimize future warranty claims, ensuring that owners receive a yacht that meets both their expectations and contractual commitments.
