New Build Inspection Poland
Independent milestone inspections, structural close-up, factory acceptance and sea trial at Polish yacht-building yards — UK-qualified surveyor acting on the buyer's behalf.
What this service involves
Polish yards build a large share of Europe's production sailing yachts, custom aluminium motor yachts, charter catamarans and bare hulls destined for fitting-out elsewhere in Europe. For a UK or international buyer, the combination of strong build quality and competitive pricing makes Poland an attractive country to commission a new yacht — but a yacht is built only as well as it is inspected, and the most valuable inspections happen at points in the build where the work is still visible and easy to correct.
SVG Marine carries out independent new-build inspections at Polish yards through every important milestone: the hull out-of-mould, the hull turn-over, the structural and bulkhead close-up before the fit-out makes things invisible, the tankage hydrostatic test, machinery and electrical installation, rig step on sailing yachts, and pre-launch. At delivery we attend factory acceptance, sea trial and the final handover.
Each inspection produces a written report with photographs, item-by-item findings categorised critical / condition / recommendation, and a running snag list that is closed out before the next milestone. The reports are written for the buyer's file and for the buyer's lawyer, lender and insurer — not for the yard.
We also routinely survey bare or part-fitted hulls in Poland that are destined for fit-out in the Netherlands, UK or France, confirming the structural and laminate quality before the value-added fit-out begins. For UK-flagged buyers, the delivery engagement is often combined with tonnage measurement and (where relevant) MCA coding examination so the yacht arrives ready to register and to operate.
Where we work
We attend Polish yards across the Pomeranian coast, the Masurian lake district and inland production sites. Visit cadence is agreed up front; ad-hoc visits are arranged where a specific issue needs investigation between scheduled milestones.

Frequently asked questions
Why commission new-build inspections in Poland?
Polish yards build production sailing yachts, custom aluminium motor yachts, catamarans and hulls for fitting-out elsewhere in Europe. The country offers strong build quality at competitive pricing — independent inspections at each milestone protect the buyer's interest without depending on the yard's own QA process.
What inspection milestones do you cover?
Typical milestones: hull out-of-mould or hull turn-over, structural and bulkhead close-up before fit-out, tankage hydrostatic test, machinery installation, electrical distribution, rig step (sailing yachts), pre-launch, factory acceptance trial, sea trial, and final delivery acceptance.
Are you independent of the yard?
Yes. SVG Marine acts only for the buyer. Reports are written for the owner's file and are not shared with the yard except where the buyer specifically authorises it.
How is this different from an owner's representative?
A new-build inspection is a discrete piece of work at a defined milestone — a survey visit, an inspection report. An owner's representative engagement bundles inspections with contract management, change-order handling and ongoing build oversight. Many owners combine both.
What do I receive after each inspection?
A written report with photographs, item-by-item findings categorised as critical / condition / recommendation, and a running snag list. Reports are issued within five working days of the visit.
Do you inspect hulls and yachts destined for fit-out elsewhere?
Yes. A common engagement is to survey bare or part-fitted hulls in Poland before they leave for fitting-out in the Netherlands, UK or France. The inspection confirms the structural and laminate quality before the value-added fit-out begins.
Where in Poland do you typically attend?
The Tri-City (Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot), Szczecin and Świnoujście on the Pomeranian coast, Augustów and the Masurian lake-district yards, and inland yards near Ostróda, Elbląg, Wrocław and Poznań.
Can you also handle MCA coding or tonnage at delivery?
Yes. For UK-flagged buyers we routinely combine the delivery acceptance inspection with tonnage measurement and (where relevant) MCA coding examination, so the boat arrives at its home base certificated and ready to operate.
