A pre-purchase survey is a critical step before committing to the purchase of any vessel. This comprehensive assessment provides a detailed understanding of the boat’s condition, helping buyers make an informed investment decision. We conduct pre-purchase, and all other types of survey in Southampton, Lymington, Poole, Beaulieu, Portsmouth, Chichester, Hamble, Gosport, Weymouth, Plymouth and any other South coast and all mainland UK locations.
What’s Included in the Survey?
- Structural Integrity: A thorough inspection of the hull, deck, and superstructure for any signs of damage, defects, or osmosis.
- Systems & Equipment Testing: Evaluation of electrical, plumbing, fuel, and mechanical systems, including the engine, steering, bilge pumps, and battery performance.
- Mast & Rigging Inspection: A deck-level assessment of the rigging, chainplates, mast step, and spars to check for corrosion, wear, and structural integrity.
- Sea Trial: Performance testing under real conditions, assessing engine operation, steering response, propulsion efficiency, and overall handling.
- Haul-Out Examination: If possible, the vessel will be lifted out of the water for a close inspection of the hull, keel, rudder, and stern gear, identifying any structural concerns, fouling, or damage.
- Moisture & Corrosion Testing: Use of specialized tools to detect water ingress, delamination, and potential corrosion issues in critical areas.
Reporting & Recommendations
- Following the yacht survey, the buyer will receive an initial verbal summary of key findings.
- A formal, detailed PDF report will be provided within five working days, outlining:
- Urgent Recommendations – Critical issues that require immediate attention.
- General Recommendations – Important findings that may need future maintenance or repair.
- Suggestions – Advisory notes to enhance safety, efficiency, or performance.
This structured approach ensures buyers have all the necessary insights to make a well-informed purchasing decision.
